LoJack® System Helps Huntington Beach Police Department Recover Stolen Nissan Maxima

The owners of a 2006 Nissan Maxima contacted the Riverside Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen.
The Riverside PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.
A short while later officers from the Huntington Beach Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. The officer that initially picked up the signal broadcast the stolen vehicle information and his location of Beach Boulevard and Slater. Other officers responded to the area and another officer located the Nissan at a gas station at the corner of Beach and Warner. The officer saw the Nissan at the pumps with two females standing outside the driver door. They appeared to be putting gas into the Nissan. The officers detained the females and questioned them. One of the females stated she was the passenger. She told the officers that the driver asked her to go with her to visit her children at a shelter. The passenger asked the driver where she got the vehicle and she stated it was a rental. The other female told the officers she called the passenger for a ride to visit her children and she arrived in the Nissan Maxima. The passenger told the driver she was tired and asked her to drive. The passenger female told the driver she got the Nissan from a “homeboy.”
The officers searched the Nissan and found drug paraphernalia. Both females were arrested for the theft of the Nissan.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan Maxima in December 2005 at Performance Nissan in Duarte, California.
