The owner of a 2008 Lexus IS250 contacted the San Diego Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen from his residence in the city of San Diego.

The San Diego PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Lexus.

A short while later, officers from the San Diego PD Air unit (ABLE) picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Lexus with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Lexus to a residential neighborhood located in the 3900 block of Willamette Street in San Diego. ABLE directed ground units to the area for the recovery.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Lexus in September 2010 by Lexus Carlsbad in California.
