A local Dodge dealer contacted the TRAP unit to report that their Dodge Challenger was stolen by a female utilizing a false Social Security Number (SSN) to purchase the vehicle.  After attempts to contact this individual failed, Task Force Detectives were called.  TRAP detectives verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Dodge.

A short while later the Ontario Police Department Air-30 picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Dodge with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the airship tracked the Dodge to a parking lot of a business complex located in Rancho Cucamonga and located the vehicle parked and unoccupied in front of one of the businesses. Deputies from the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Office Rancho were notified and responded setting up surveillance on the Dodge.  Within a few minutes two females exited one of the businesses and entered the Dodge.  Deputies deployed on the Dodge detaining the females without further incident.  Detectives from TRAP responded and assumed the investigation.  One of the females was arrested on an outstanding warrant and the driver was identified and released pending further investigation.  The Dodge was stored pending release to the victim car dealer.

The LoJack® System was Pre-Installed in the Dodge Challenger in March 2014 at Rydell Chrysler – Dodge-Jeep in San Fernando, California.
