When a customer drove a Dodge Ram 1500 from a dealership in Clovis, CA, to have it examined by their mechanic, the driver provided identification, proof of insurance and signed a short term use agreement, but failed to return with the pickup. Dealer management discovered the information provided was falsified and reported the truck stolen. The LoJack® system installed in the Ram helped local law enforcement recover it that same day.

On February 11th, 2014, the dealership manager contacted the Clovis Police to report the crime. Officers entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Ram.

Just a few minutes later, a deputy from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department, picked up the homing signals from the stolen truck with the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The deputy found the Dodge in a mobile home park in West Fresno, where it was parked and abandoned. The undamaged Ram was retrieved and soon returned to the dealership. The suspect is currently being sought for vehicle theft in connection with this incident and is also the suspect in several other thefts from car dealerships where he has used this same tactic.
