On a recent Monday morning, the victim in this case discovered that his Honda CR-V was missing from in front of his North Sacramento residence where he had parked it the previous evening. That was probably not the way he would have chosen to start his week. It’s a good thing that he decided to have the LoJack® system installed when he bought his SUV because police using LoJack were able to recover it in less than a half hour after activation.

On September 30th, 2013, the Honda’s owner contacted the California Highway Patrol (CHP) North Sacramento Area. The vehicle information was entered into the California Stolen Vehicle System as well as the NCIC national system. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the CR-V, which was installed at South Bay Honda in Los Gatos, CA.

A short time later, a K-9 officer with the Sacramento PD began to receive the homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The officer located the Honda, but the driver took off when the officer attempted to stop him. The officer and his backup followed the car as passengers exited at several intersections. Both the driver and all passengers were taken into custody. The CR-V was soon returned to its very happy owner.
