In this case, California air and ground law enforcement agencies combine forces with the LoJack® system to recover a stolen Honda Civic and take the thief into custody on the same day it was taken.

On March 4th, 2014, the Honda’s owner contacted the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Central Station to report that their vehicle was stolen. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the Civic, which was installed at Honda of Pasadena, CA, was then automatically activated.

Just a few minutes later, a California Highway Patrol flight crew picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their aircraft. The flight officers located the Honda traveling in the area of Rancho Avenue and H Street in Colton and requested ground assistance. Colton PD units responded and attempted a vehicle stop. The driver failed to comply and a brief pursuit ensued.  The suspect drove into a mobile home park and fled the vehicle on foot but was quickly taken into custody. The undamaged Civic was retrieved and soon returned to its relieved owner.  This was the second time the vehicle had been stolen and recovered by police with help from LoJack.
