When the Modesto, CA resident in this case discovered hew Volkswagen Jetta was missing on a recent Wednesday afternoon, she discovered that the LoJack® system that was installed when the car was purchased was a really great investment. Local law enforcement, assisted by LoJack, recovered the vehicle in just 10 minutes after activation.

On February 26th, 2014, the VW’s owner reported the incident to the Modesto Police Department. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the California Stolen Vehicle System and the NCIC national system, NCIC. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Jetta, which was installed at Ontario Volkswagen in Ontario, CA.

Just a few minutes later, officers with the Ceres Police Department and the Stanislaus Sheriff’s Department began to receive the homing signal emitting from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The VW was located in the closed garage of a residential home on Molly Drive. The officers contacted the Stanislaus County Auto Theft Task Force, who made contact with the occupants of the residence and retrieved the Jetta, which was soon returned to its grateful owners.
