It’s a shocker to exit your home expecting to hop right into your car- then discovering your vehicle is not where you left it. This happened to a Sacramento, CA resident recently when she walked outside to go to work. The LoJack® system installed in her Lexus ES300 went to work right away, assisting police in recovering her car in a little over two hours after activation.

On September 10th, 2013, the victim contacted the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the California Stolen Vehicle System and the NCIC national system. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle, which was installed at Longo Lexus in El Monte, CA.

A short while later, Sacramento Sheriff’s deputies began to receive the homing silent signal from the Lexus on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The deputies located the vehicle parked near an apartment complex in the North Highland area, and then called the SACCATT auto theft task force who set up a surveillance of the Lexus. After a brief surveillance, a male suspect entered the Lexus and started to drive away. Investigators stopped the vehicle and took the suspect into custody without incident. The ES300 was soon returned to its grateful owner, who stated that this is the second time this Lexus has been stolen and recovered intact with the assistance of LoJack.
