The California-based owner of the 2013 Ford F-250 in this case was probably pretty upset to find his pickup missing one Friday morning. It’s a good thing he decided to have the LoJack® system installed when he bought his truck just three months prior, because local law enforcement, assisted by LoJack, recovered it the same day.

On August 16th, 2013, the Ford’s owner contacted the Orange, CA Police to report that his truck was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the F-250.

A short while later, deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department picked up the homing signals from the stolen pickup on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The deputies tracked the vehicle to a residential neighborhood in Santa Ana, where it was found parked and unoccupied. The owner was very happy to get his undamaged F-250, valued at approximately $23,300, back in his possession.
