When the owner of this 2011 Lincoln MKZ pulled up to have the valet park her vehicle at a restaurant, she didn’t expect someone other than the valet to hop into her car and drive away- but that’s exactly what happened! The thief probably didn’t expect the Lincoln to have the LoJack® system installed- so local police could track the MKZ down and swiftly return the car to its owner.

On July 14th, 2013, the victim called the LAPD- West Valley Station immediately to report her Lincoln was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle’s information into the California Stolen Vehicle System as well as the national system, NCIC. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle, which was installed at Galpin Jaguar-Lincoln- Volvo in Van Nuys, CA.

A short while later, officers in the northern California cities of Sacramento and Elk Grove both began to receive the homing signal from the Lincoln on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers observed the vehicle being driven on North Gate Blvd. They stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver. The Lincoln did not sustain any damage and was soon returned to its very happy owner.
