New Rochelle Police Use LoJack to Recover GMC Yukon Stolen in Mount Vernon

On February 9, 2013, the owner of a GMC Yukon contacted the Mount Vernon Police Department, located in Westchester County, to report his vehicle was stolen while parked in his driveway.
Mt. Vernon Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Honda.
A short while later, officers from the New Rochelle Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Yukon on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the vehicle to a lot near Hutchinson Blvd and Atlas Pl., located in Westchester County. Surveillance was setup for a short time with negative results. The vehicle was impounded for safekeeping and eventually released to a happy owner.
