Houston Police Use LoJack to Recover Chevy Pickup Stolen at Gunpoint, FIVE Arrested

On February 22, 2013 the owner of a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pickup contacted the Houston Police Department to report his vehicle stolen. According to the owner, when he stopped at an intersection, several men displaying a handgun demanded the vehicle. The owner jumped from the vehicle and ran away.
Houston Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Chevrolet pickup.
A short while later, officers from Houston Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Chevrolet pickup on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the pickup to a residential driveway where they observed several suspects stripping the wheels and tires from the vehicle. Officers arrested five suspects without incidence, charging them with felony auto theft, outstanding felony warrants and possession of controlled substances. The total value of all assets recovered was approximately $16,500.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Chevrolet pickup in July of 2006 at Davis Chevrolet GEO in Houston, Texas.
