LoJack Helps Roseville & Citrus Heights Police Recover Stolen Lexus GS470

On February 17, 2013, the owner of a 2005 Lexus GS470 awoke to discover that her vehicle had been stolen from her driveway sometime during the previous night. She immediately contacted the California Highway Patrol, who verified the theft and had the vehicle information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle. Neither the owners nor law enforcement had to do anything else to activate the LoJack Transponder because LoJack’s interface with law enforcement is both seamless and instantaneous.
A short while later, officers with both the Roseville Police Department and the Citrus Height Police Department began to receive the silent signal now emitting from the LoJack transponder in the Lexus. Following the directional and signal strength cues from their LoJack Police Tracking Computers, the officers located the Lexus, parked and abandoned near the intersection of Brenan and Holly Way in Citrus Heights.
The officers facilitated a surveillance of the vehicle in the hope of arresting the thief upon his return to the vehicle. However, after a lengthy surveillance without any activity, the officers impounded the vehicle and processed it for fingerprints, to be released back to the victim later.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Lexus GS470 at Fletcher Jones Lexus in Las Vegas in March of 2005. Approximate value of the recovered vehicle $20,500.
