Corcoran Police Recover Honda Accord Stolen in Kings County, Illegal Immigrant Arrested for Theft

On November 11, 2012 the owner of a Honda Accord contacted the Kings County Sheriff’s Department to report that the vehicle stolen. The Kings County Sheriff’s Department verified the theft and entered the Honda’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.
A short while later, officers from the Corcoran Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Honda on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the vehicle to the vicinity of the 1800 block of Josephine Avenue in Corcoran. There, the officers located the occupied vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The male adult driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was detained and later arrested for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property. The suspect was also found to be in the country illegally and an immigration hold was placed on him.
The vehicle was recovered intact and undamaged; it was released to the owner at the scene.
