On July 3, 2012, the owner of a 2010 Toyota Corolla contacted the Escondido Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen from the 100th block of East 13th St. in Escondido. Econdido Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Toyota.

Less than an hour later, officers from the Escondido Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Toyota Corolla on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the vehicle to the 130th block of West 10th St. in Escondido.

The owner was very happy when the Escondido Police contacted him to retrieve the vehicle, which had been recovered abandoned and undamaged.  The vehicle was valued at approximately $9,000.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Toyota Corolla on August 2010 at Poway Mitsubishi in Poway.
