LoJack Early Warning System Enables Quick Recovery of Mercedes Stolen for 2nd Time in 1 Year

On June 27, 2012, the owner of a Mercedes Benz ML3, valued at $10,600, contacted the Aurora Police Department to report that her vehicle was stolen by an acquaintance for the second time this year. The owners had been alerted to the theft by the LoJack Early Warning alert from their LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System. After verifying the theft, Aurora Police entered the vehicle’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Mercedes.
A short while later, officers from the Aurora Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen SUV with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) installed in their patrol vehicles. The LoJack PTC provides officers with on-board information which permits them to locate the stolen vehicle quickly and with an increased margin of safety.
Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack PTCs, the officers tracked the vehicle to the parking lot of a large department store. The vehicle was quickly recovered and returned to the very happy owner.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Mercedes ML3 in August 2001 at Mercedes Benz of South Bay, Torrance, California.
