The owners of a 2004 Toyota Tundra contacted the Riverside Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen. The Riverside PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

Only 41 minutes later the Redlands Police Department fixed wing aircraft, Redhawk 1, picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, Redhawk 1 tracked the Toyota to a retail area in the city of Redlands. Redhawk 1 broadcast this information and a Redlands PD patrol vehicle equipped with a LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) responded to the area. The patrol officer picked up the signal and tracked the Toyota to the rear of a restaurant. The officer found two people in the Toyota. The officer held the suspects in the Toyota until assisting officers arrived. A male in the driver seat was in possession of the Toyota’s keys. The female passenger had a felony robbery warrant for her arrest. Both suspects were taken into custody and the undamaged Toyota was recovered.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Tundra in April 2004 at Toyota of Riverside in California.
