The owners of a 2007 Toyota RAV contacted the Santa Monica Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen by unknown suspects. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota RAV.

A short while later the Los Angeles Police Department Air Support flight officers picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Air Ship tracked the Toyota to the area of 62nd St and alerted ground units of the tracking.  A detective from the Commercial Crimes unit (BADCAT) picked up the silent signal on his PTC and located the Toyota parked and unoccupied on 62nd St and Vermont Ave.  Surveillance was established and after several hours the Toyota was recovered containing personal property of the victim. The Toyota was processed and later stored for safe keeping. Note:  all personal property belonging to the victim was recovered.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota RAV in May 2012 at Auto Land #72 in Los Angeles, California.
