On April 24, 2012, Ventura Police Department patrol officers received a text message from the Port Hueneme Police Department regarding a stolen vehicle.

Thirteen minutes later, the officers picked up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen 2008 Dodge Avenger, on their onboard LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC). Following the directional and signal strength cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the signal to Camino Real Park were they located the vehicle.

Officers conducted an investigation in the area, and were able to locate and identify the suspect involved in the theft. The suspect was taken into custody for auto theft and a parole violation without incident. This investigation is being conducted by detectives from Ventura Police Department.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Dodge Avenger at the owner’s request in May 2007.
