The owner of this Dodge Durango SUV parked the vehicle in a lot located at SE130th and SE Division Streets. He placed a “For Sale” sign in the window and left it for two hours. When he returned, the Dodge was gone. The theft was reported to the Portland Police Bureau who verified the report and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Dodge.

Just fifteen minutes later, the Gresham Police Department officers picked up the silent LoJack signal from the Durango with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that is installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.

Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, they tracked the Dodge to SE 163rd and Main Street in Portland. The Dodge was abandoned.

The current owner purchased it as a used vehicle and was not aware it was equipped with LoJack seventeen years ago.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Dodge Durango in March 1999 at Tuttle Click Dodge in Irvine, California.
