The owners of a 2008 Toyota Prius contacted the Ventura Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.

The Ventura PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

A short time later, the Ventura PD patrol officers picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Toyota to the area of Sanjon and Thompson Blvd. The officers conducted a traffic stop and took the female driver into custody for auto theft related charges without incident.
The Toyota was released to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Prius in April 2008 at Toyota of Oxnard in California.
