The owners of a 2016 Ford Fiesta contacted the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to report their vehicle was stolen.

The LASD Compton verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

A short while later an LASD airship picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the LASD airship tracked the Ford to the parking lot of a park in Compton. The airship requested patrol deputies respond to the park.  Patrol deputies found the Ford abandoned but found a note on the driver door window.  The note read “Sorry about your car, my name is ……” The note also listed the persons address, phone number and stated they had the key to the Ford.  The deputies contacted the victim but she did not know the person listed in the note.  Deputies recovered the Ford and detectives will be conducting follow-up as to the legitimacy of the note.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Fiesta in August 2015 at Star Ford in Glendale, California.
