LoJack® System Helps Albuquerque Police Department Recover a Stolen Nissan Quest

The owner of a 2005 Nissan Quest called the Albuquerque Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen while they were warming it up. The theft occurred in the early morning hours from the residential area of Louisiana and Constitution.
The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.
The Albuquerque Police Department auto theft detectives picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and undercover vehicles. Following the audible and directional cues from the PTC, the detectives tracked the Nissan to an apartment complex parking garage in the area of San Mateo and Central. The detectives tracked the signal down an alley leading to several single car garages below the two story apartments. Detectives then utilized a LoJack hand held tracker and definitively identified the garage unit the stolen Nissan was concealed in. The detectives established surveillance on the garage while a search warrant was obtained. Detectives located the stolen Nissan inside of the garage along with a subject “sleeping” inside of the Nissan. This subject was promptly taken into custody for further investigation. The Nissan will be released back to the owner.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan Quest in March 2005 at Nissan of San Bernardino in California.
