LoJack® System Helps Sacramento Sheriff’s Department Recover Stolen Toyota Sienna

The owners of a 2015 Toyota Sienna van contacted the California Highway Patrol South Sacramento Area to report that their vehicle was stolen. The victim stated the Toyota was taken from in front of their residence and may have been taken by a wayward relative who did not have permission to take it.

The CHP verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

Less than 15 minutes, deputies from the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Toyota to the area of Florin Rd and 65th Street and observed the vehicle being driven. The deputies conducted a felony stop and took the driver into custody without incident. After questioning the driver was arrested and booked for auto theft.

The victim was contacted and the Toyota was released to the owner at the scene.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2015 Toyota Sienna in December 2014 at Roseville Toyota in California.
