The owners of a 1999 Honda Civic contacted the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Temple Station to report that their vehicle was stolen by a known suspect.  Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Within 14 minutes after the activation, officers from the Pasadena Police Department aided by Pasadena PD Air Support PD-1 flight officers picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, they tracked the Honda to the area of 3026 block of East Orange Grove Blvd, where the vehicle was observed parked and unoccupied.  As the officer was in the process of turning around, he observed one male and one female enter the Honda and drive off.  The officer confirmed the stolen status and followed the Honda to Electric Dr. West of Halstead St, where assisting units conducted a felony traffic stop and detained the individuals.  A field investigation led to the arrest of the driver who was identified as the named suspect.  He was later booked for “Grand Theft” auto and the female was released. The owner responded to the scene and the undamaged Honda was released to him.

Case referred to Detectives for filing.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Civic in August 1999 by Honda of Hollywood in California.
