The owner of a 2002 Honda Accord discovered that the vehicle had been stolen from the area of his residence in Upper Southampton, Pennsylvania. The Honda owner called 911 and an Upper Southampton Police Department officer was dispatched to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and checked the area for the subject vehicle. When the Honda could not be located, the officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and arranged for the vehicle information to be entered into the state and federal crime computers. This entry automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda Accord.

Minutes later, uniformed officers from the Philadelphia Police Department 25th District picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the signal to the area of West Allegheny Avenue. The officers noted that the PTC was indicating that the Honda was directly in front of the police vehicle. The officers observed a 2002 Honda but the license tag on the vehicle did not match the license number on the stolen vehicle. The officers signaled the operator of the Honda pull to the side of the highway. The operator complied with the request and the officers checked the public vehicle identification number. The check revealed that this vehicle was in fact the 2002 Honda stolen from Upper Southampton, Pennsylvania.

The operator of the Honda was placed under arrest and transported to the Philadelphia PD East Detective Division. The Honda was secured for safekeeping and the owner was notified. The Upper Southampton PD was notified regarding the recovery of the Honda and the stolen vehicle alarm was cancelled.
The LoJack® System was installed in the 2002 Honda Acord in February 2002 by Planet Honda in Passaic, New Jersey.
