The owner of a Mercedes Benz E320 contacted the Gilbert Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen sometime overnight from their residence.

The Gilbert PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mercedes Benz.

A short while later, officers from four different police agencies (Avondale PD, Tolleson PD, Goodyear PD and Highway Patrol) picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mercedes Benz with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Mercedes Benz to the area near Interstate 10 and 91st Avenue in the west valley.

The Mercedes Benz was located occupied by one male suspect.  The Tolleson PD officers conducted a felony traffic stop on the stolen Mercedes Benz.  The driver complied and was taken into custody without incident.  Detectives from the Arizona Vehicle Theft Task Force responded to the scene to conduct further investigation and took disposition of the case.  The suspect was arrested and booked for the theft of the vehicle.  The Mercedes Benz was returned to the owner in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mercedes Benz E320 in September 1998 by Mercedes Benz of Laguna Niguel in California.
