The owner of a 2006 Dodge Charger contacted the Philadelphia Police Department to report that their vehicle had apparently been stolen in the eastern section of Philadelphia. The Philadelphia PD Radio dispatched a 25th District officer to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the complainant and checked the area for the stolen Dodge. When the Dodge could not be located, the officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and arranged for the vehicle information to be entered into the state and federal crime computers. This computer entry automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Dodge Charger.

A short while later, members of the elite Philadelphia Police Aviation Division were on patrol over the City of Philadelphia in Airship Tac Air 4. The aviation officers reported to Philadelphia PD Radio that the LoJack Police Tracking Computer in the airship was intercepting a LoJack Reply Code. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the aviation officers tracked the signal out of Philadelphia and into Abington Township. As a result of the information received from the Philadelphia Aviation Unit officers, the Abington Police were able to locate a vehicle matching the description of the subject Dodge. The Dodge was observed secreted in a private driveway in front of a second vehicle. The suspected stolen Dodge had no license tag in place. The Abington officers knocked on the door of the residence and subsequently obtained permission from the resident to examine the subject vehicle. A check of the public vehicle identification number on the suspect vehicle revealed that it was in fact the Dodge Charger stolen in Philadelphia.

The Dodge was confiscated by the Abington Police Department and the Philadelphia PD were notified that the recovery had been made. This incident remains under investigation by the Abington PD.
The LoJack® System was installed in the 2006 Dodge Charger in December 2009 by CarMax Dealership in Memphis, Tennessee.
