The owners of a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe contacted the Los Angeles Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet Tahoe.

A short while later officers from the LAPD 77th St Division picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Tahoe with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Tahoe to 81st St and Hoover St and located the vehicle parked and unoccupied next to an alley. Surveillance was set in place by an additional unit from 77th St Division. Within an hour, the surveillance unit observed a male adult get into the Tahoe and drive off. These officers immediately deployed on the Tahoe taking the suspect into custody without further incident. During a field investigation the officers were told that the suspect was paid to move the Tahoe. This suspect was arrested and later booked for vehicle theft. The recovered Tahoe was later returned to the owners.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Tahoe in August 2005 at Maurice Sopp Chevrolet in Bell, California.
