LoJack® System Helps Los Angeles Police Department Recover Stolen 2012 Nissan Altima

The owners of a 2012 Nissan Altima contacted the Los Angeles Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.  Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Altima.

Six minutes later, officers from the LAPD Southwest Division picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan Altima with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, they tracked the moving Nissan to area of Van Ness Ave just north of 41st Pl where they observed the Nissan north bound.  The officers assisted by the LAPD Air-3 (who monitored via air) got behind the Nissan and with the assistance of a back-up unit, conducted a “high Risk” felony traffic stop taking the driver into custody without further incident. The suspect was later booked for driving a motor vehicle without owner’s consent. The undamaged Nissan was stored at a local tow agency pending release to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan Altima in March 2013 at Felix Chevrolet/Cadillac in Los Angeles, California.
