The owner of this Porsche contacted the Palm Springs Police Department and reported that their vehicle had been stolen. Apparently the thieves entered an unlocked residence, burglarized and ransacked the residence taking the car keys and the Porsche with them. The officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Porsche.

Within minutes of the entry into the California Stolen Vehicle System (SVS) and NCIC, an officer from Beaumont PD had just entered the driveway of the Police Department when she picked up the silent LoJack® homing signals from the stolen Porsche with the LoJack® Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked the vehicle to 6th St and observed the vehicle approaching from the opposite direction.  The officer made a U-turn and as she approached the stolen Porsche, the suspect pulled to the curb and stopped.

A felony car stop was initiated and the suspect held until back up units arrived.  The suspect was arrested without further incident and later booked for vehicle theft. The undamaged Porsche was later returned to the victim/owner.

The LoJack® Stolen Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this Porsche in August 2003.
