It was late in the evening on a recent Thursday when the San Francisco, CA resident in this case discovered his 2013 Honda Civic SI was missing from his residence. The LoJack® system that was installed in his vehicle just five months before proved what a good investment it was by helping local law enforcement recover the car in less than 60 minutes after activation.

The Honda’s owner contacted the San Francisco Police Department on May 1st, 2014, to report that his vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This action automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Civic SI, which was installed at Honda of Serramonte in Colma, CA.

Less than one hour later, San Francisco PD picked up the silent homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The Honda was located in the Outer Sunset Area of San Francisco, where it was parked and abandoned on a side street. The undamaged Civic SI was retrieved and soon returned to its relieved owner.
