LoJack System Helps Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Recover Stolen Toyota Camry within Minutes of Activation

The owner of a 2008 Toyota Camry contacted the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to report that her vehicle had been stolen from in front of her residence in the 4700 block of Randall.  The owner had parked the Toyota and dropped her keys into her purse.  The owner then left her purse in the Toyota and went inside leaving the car unlocked.  When she returned and found the Toyota missing she notified the police department. 

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

Eight minutes later officers from Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the vehicle to an apartment complex in the 300 block of Harmon Ave. where they located it unoccupied and undamaged.  The Toyota was then recovered and returned back to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Camry in March 2008 at Centennial Toyota, Las Vegas, Nevada.
