The owner of a 2006 Mercedes Benz 280 contacted the La Mesa Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen in the city of La Mesa.

The La Mesa PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mercedes.

Within 30 minutes, deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mercedes with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Mercedes to the 11000 block of Tavern Road in the city of Alpine. A traffic stop was made and one suspect was arrested for vehicle theft and possession of stolen property.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mercedes Benz in July 2005 at Mercedes Benz of Laguna Niguel in California.
