The owners of a 2017 Nissan Sentra contacted the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Carson Station to report that their vehicle was stolen by “Car Jack.” Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan Sentra.

A short while later the Los Angeles Police Department Air-18 flight officers picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and aircraft.

Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the airship tracked the Nissan from 5th St and Vernon alerting ground units from the LAPD Southwest Division who responded from the station. Minutes later the officers had caught up to the stolen Nissan and affected a “High Risk” felony stop taking several suspects into custody without further incident. The suspects were subsequently arrested and later booked for the “Car Jack” crime. The Nissan was later processed and released to the victims.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan Sentra in July 2017 at Carson Nissan in California.
