The owners of a 2005 Acura ATL contacted the Gardena Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen by unknown suspects. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Acura TL.

A short while later officers from the Los Angeles Police Department Southwest Division picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Acura with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.

Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Acura to a parking lot at Rodeo Rd and Crenshaw Blvd. Upon confirming the license plate, the officers began making a U-turn and saw the Acura pull into a service station on the corner. The officers pulled into the service station, requested back up and made contact with a male driver and female passenger taking them into custody without further incident.

The male driver was subsequently booked for driving a motor vehicle without owner’s permission and a second charge of the same with a prior, both felonies. The female was released without charges.

The undamaged Acura was stored for safe keeping and later released to the victim.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Acura TL in January 2005 at Downey Acura in California.
