The owner of a 2004 Nissan Frontier called the University of New Mexico Police Department to report the vehicle was stolen. The UNM PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan Frontier.

Within 22 minutes after the activation, officers with the Albuquerque Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in their patrol vehicles and aircraft. The Nissan was tracked to a residential neighborhood in the area of Old Coors and Sunset Gardens.

The Nissan was found to be parked and unoccupied. Officers notified the owner of the recovery who advised he was still at UNM. The owner further advised that he was glad to have purchased LoJack for the Nissan and will put LoJack on all of his future vehicles.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan Frontier in March 2004 at Mossy Nissan Oceanside in California.
