The victim stated they discovered the Toyota missing from in front of their residence in the morning. One of their other vehicles had been burglarized and the Highlander keys were taken from that vehicle. The Mountain View PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota Highlander.

A short time later, investigators from the Santa Clara County Regional Auto Theft Task Force picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota Highlander with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) which are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the stolen Toyota to the parking lot of a hotel on Stewart Street, in the city of Sunnyvale, where the vehicle was found parked, unoccupied. Surveillance was set up on the Toyota but no suspects were located.

The stolen Toyota Highlander was recovered and released to the owner at the scene.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Highlander in April 2015 at Livermore Toyota in California.
