The owner of a 2008 Ford F450 contacted the Los Angeles Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen in the city of Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

At a later time, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Ford to the area near 36900 Tool Box Springs Road in the city of Mountain Center. The Riverside County Auto Theft Interdiction Detail (RAID) was contacted and served a search warrant. The Ford was recovered and the theft investigation continues.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford F450 in May 2008 at Ford of Bellevue in Washington.
