The owners of a 2004 Lincoln Navigator contacted the Salt River Tribal Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen.

The Salt River Tribal PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Lincoln.

A short while later, the air unit and officers from the Phoenix Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Lincoln with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Lincoln to the area of 63rd Avenue and Roosevelt Street in central Phoenix.

The Phoenix PD officers located the stolen Lincoln occupied and conducted a high risk felony stop on the vehicle. The driver complied and was taken into custody without incident. The passenger then jumped into the driver’s seat and sped off. The air unit and Phoenix PD officers tracked the LoJack signal to follow the stolen Lincoln approximately fourteen miles to a neighborhood near Central Avenue and Glendale Avenue. The suspect fled on foot from the stolen Lincoln and into a residence. A perimeter was established and the suspect was later taken into custody. Both suspects were arrested and booked on multiple felony charges. The Lincoln was impounded for safe keeping and later released to the owners in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Lincoln Navigator in March 2004 at South Bay Lincoln Mercury in Manhattan Beach, California.
