The owners of a 2013 Toyota Corolla contacted the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle was stolen by unknown suspects. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota Corolla.

A short while later a Sergeant from the Baldwin Park Police Department monitored a broadcast from the Irwindale Police Department that they had been tracking the Toyota. As he headed towards the area, he also picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Sergeant tracked the Toyota, located it parked and unoccupied in a parking lot near Francisquito and Baldwin Park Blvd.

A citizen informed the responding officers of a suspect description who was subsequently located and detained. While searching the recovered Toyota Corolla, a cell phone was located belonging to the suspect. Keys to the Toyota were located in a trash container, apparently dumped by the suspect. The suspect was subsequently questioned by detectives and admitted to taking the Toyota. Case will be submitted to the Deputy District Attorney for review.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Corolla in May 2016 at Toyota of Pasadena in California.
