LoJack System Helps Corning Police Department Recover Stolen Ford F350

The owners of a 2017 Ford F350, a car dealership, contacted the Redding Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The dealership reported that a customer came in the day before and purchased the Ford. The suspect drove away with the Ford and the next day it was discovered the person presented false credit information and filled out a fraudulent credit application.
The Redding PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.
Less than 2 hours later officers from the Corning Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Ford to the area of South Ave and Hwy 99 in the City of Corning. The officer then tracked the signal into the truck stop and observed the Ford and a driver parked in the parking lot. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. After questioning he was arrested for auto theft and booked into the Tehama County Jail.
The Ford was towed and stored for safekeeping to be released to the dealership later.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford F350 in August 2017 at Crown Motors in Redding, California.
