The owner of a 1995 Volvo 960 contacted the Albuquerque Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen. The Albuquerque PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Volvo.

Within minutes after the activation, a unit equipped with a LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Volvo. Deputies with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department located the Volvo in a residential yard in the area of Isleta and Arenal. Deputies set up a perimeter around the Volvo due to recent auto theft activity and a known offender who likes to run from law enforcement living in this area. Deputies made contact with several subjects at the residence and recovered the stolen Volvo.

Deputies made two felony drug arrests, a felony warrant and a misdemeanor warrant, and one subject was charged with Receiving/Transferring a Stolen Vehicle. Three subjects were provided transportation to the Metropolitan Detention Center for the aforementioned charges. The Volvo was successfully recovered and will be returned to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Volvo 960 in March 1996 via Direct Sales in Los Angeles, California.
