LoJack System Helps San Leandro Police Department Recover Stolen 2011 Honda CRV

The owner of a 2011 Honda CRV contacted the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen. The victim stated they discovered the Honda missing from the driveway of a residence in the 3200 block of “D” Street in unincorporated Hayward. The Alameda County SD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda CRV.
A short while later officers from the San Leandro Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the stolen Honda and located it parked in the rear parking area of a large apartment complex in the 800 block of Davis Street. The Honda’s license plates had been removed and the rear plate was replaced with a local car dealership placard in an attempt to conceal the stolen vehicle’s identity from law enforcement, but the LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery System lead the police directly to the Honda.
The Honda was recovered and towed/stored to be returned back to the victim.
The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda CRV in April 2014 at Honda of Hayward in California.
