The owners of a 2014 Nissan Frontier contacted the Torrance Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen by unknown suspects. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan Frontier.

A short while later the Los Angeles Police Department Air-3 flight officers picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the flight officers tracked the Nissan to the area of Martin Luther King Blvd and San Pedro St where they alerted officers from the Newton Gang Enforcement detail.

The ground officers responded to the area and observed the Nissan parked in a Southwest parking lot. Shortly after discovering the Nissan, it reversed and began travelling south on San Pedro St. When sufficient back up arrived, and Air-3 overhead, a felony traffic stop was conducted at 43rd Place east of Avalon Blvd. The driver and passenger were taken into custody without further incident. The driver was later booked for possession of stolen property, narcotic and driving a motor vehicle with permission. The passenger was treated as a witness and released. The victim responded to the scene and her undamaged Nissan was released.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan Frontier in January 2015 at Auto Nation South Bay in Hawthorne, California.
