The owner of a 2015 Honda CRV contacted the California Highway Patrol from their home, in El Sobrante in unincorporated area of Contra Costa County, to report that their vehicle had been stolen. The victim stated they had loaned the Honda to a relative and the vehicle was then taken by a third party who failed to return it. The CHP verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda CRV.

A short time later, officers from the Fremont Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) which are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC the Honda was tracked to the parking lot of a hotel in the 5300 block of Farwell Place, where the stolen Honda was found occupied by a female who was seated in the driver’s seat. The female was taken into custody without incident and the Honda was recovered and released to the owner at the scene.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda CRV in February 2017 at Honda of El Cerrito in California.
