The owners of a 2017 Ford Escape contacted the Shasta County Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. The victim stated he parked his Ford in front of his residence in Shasta City the night before and when he got up to go to work he discovered someone had stolen it.

The Shasta County SD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

Less than 15 minutes later, units equipped with LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford. The Redding Police Department units, also equipped with PTCs received the LoJack signal and following the directional and audible cues from the PTC tracked the Ford to the 1000 block of Hartnell St. The officers observed the Ford parked and abandoned in a commercial parking lot.

The Ford was towed and stored to be released to the owner later.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Escape in April 2017 at Crown Motors in Redding, California.
