The owners of a 2017 Ford Fusion contacted the Los Angeles Police Department Mission Division to report that their vehicle was stolen by unknown suspects. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford Fusion.

A short while later a deputy from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Palmdale Station picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford Fusion while sitting in his parking lot. Using the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft, he began following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, and tracked the Ford to 4th St and Q-3 noting that the vehicle contained five individuals. Backup units arrived to assist and detained all five individuals without further incident.

During the field interview several of the subjects were determined to be juveniles along with the remaining three adults. The driver was identified as the person who drove the Ford and one of the passengers identified as the granddaughter of the victim. All five individuals were processed with the adults being booked for the theft. One of the juveniles had a “No Bail” warrant for her arrest and was detained in Juvenile Hall. The undamaged Ford was stored for safe keeping.

The LoJack system was installed in this 2017 Ford Fusion in October 2016 at Ford of Ventura in California.
