The owner of a 2015 Ford Fiesta contacted the Los Angeles Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen by unknown suspects. Apparently the victim had parked his Ford at his place of work and must have dropped his keys when he exited the vehicle. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford Fiesta.

A short while later a sergeant from the LAPD Rampart division picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford Fiesta with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the sergeant tracked the Ford to the area of Westlake Ave and Olympic Blvd where he observed it traveling westbound. The sergeant tracked the Ford until he saw it pulling into the lot on S Alvarado. Back up was requested and the occupants were held until they could be safely extricated from the Ford by assisting officers. The occupants were taken into custody without further incident. The officers learned that the female passenger needed medical treatment and provided same. The male driver was arrested and later booked for the theft of the Ford. The Ford was released to the owner undamaged and with the keys that he had dropped prior to the theft.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Fiesta in August 2015 at Citrus Motors in Ontario, California.
