The owners of a 2016 Chevrolet Trax contacted the Citrus Heights Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen. They stated they had a couple friends staying at their residence and when they got up the one friend was gone and so was their Chevrolet. They tried contacting the friend with no luck and they assumed the Chevrolet was stolen.

The Citrus Heights PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

Less than 5 minutes later and over 120 miles away, officers from the El Cerrito Police Department, in the Bay Area, picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Chevrolet to the parking lot near Key and Cutting Streets in El Cerrito. The Chevrolet was parked and abandoned in the parking lot.

The Chevrolet was towed for safe keeping to be released to the owner later.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Trax in July 2016 at John L. Sullivan Chevrolet in Roseville, California.
